Zlatko
Vasic |
| . |
Zlatko
Vasic was born in Tuzla, the former Yugoslavia, in 1963. From his
early days Vasic was interested in exploring various art techniques.
In 1978 he participated in the Groharjev Art Colony of Yugoslav Young
Talents, and won second prize. His first solo exhibition was opened by
the famous Yugoslav artist Dragisa Trifkovic in 1981 in Tuzla. Some of
Vasic's art works were donated to build the monument to Branislav
Nusic, a Yugoslav writer, in Belgrade. In 1991, Vasic moved to Sweden
where he continues to work and contribute to exhibitions with his
American friends Jim Pollock, Jim Mackay, Coco Gordon, and others.
Art
Magazine Diaspora wrote:
The
human body still represents an unexplored secret for the scientific
world, making it an exciting challenge for Vasic: entagled bodies,
grotesque gestures and impossible positions, life’s filth seasoned
with people’s abstract thoughts leading nowhere, the sterility of
a right-thinking society which produces everyday robots, the
unavoidable disappearance of our own individuality a claustrophobic
feeling despite open environment are only a bit of what Zlatko Vasic
exploits in his art.
According
to a critique of James Langston, an American artist:
The art works of Zlatko Vasic are both stunning and shocking in their honesty. There is so much thought and energy flowing into and out of these works that seeing them is a conversation taking place in real time. Each of his unique works demands your attention. The surface images grab you and the messages is forced into your sub-conscious.

Lynn
Small's mixed-media paintings, drawings and prints reflect
the work produced during those periods living and working
in New York; the Southern coast of Spain; Cuernavaca, Mexico;
the Southwest; California desert; and most
recently, Los Angeles. In the
many image-gathering travels throughout the Southwest, Ms.
Small traced the foot trails of the ancient ones -
the Hohokam and Anasazi. She
is deeply inspired by the spiritual
balance of the land and the symbolic nature of the petroglyphs/pictographs/
rock symbols/Katcinas
and feels that the Spirit Guides series is a
continuation of her Mexican anthropological, God-like series, begun
some twenty years before. Ms.
Small is an
art honors graduate of The High School of Music and Art, NYC. A Dean's
List student at New York University, she
studied with such renowned painters as Milton Resnick, Esteban
Vicente, Hale Woodruff, and Robert Kaupelis. LYNN

Faith
created this captivating drawing in 2002 with pencil. Faith writes:
"I really enjoy the website, particularly the Philosphy Loft with
the Principals for Critical Thinking. ...I really love the art program
here at UHart--it is based on educating the artist as a whole person,
not just in technical skills, but in philosophy, culture, writing,
speaking, critical thinking...it's a very well-constructed program."
Creative writing is Faith's other
interest as she continues her studies at UHart.
